Stave Mill Farm is a boutique, best-in-class dressage training and boarding facility, with a meticulous focus on the unique needs of each horse and rider team. Set in Southern Albemarle County, a region rich with equestrian history, the 12-stall facility offers tailored attention for the competitive dressage horse. This includes training with George Williams focused on both the rider’s and horse’s needs, combined with individual turn-out, customized feeding programs, as well as access to world-class veterinarians, experienced farriers, and performance-supporting therapies. We have found that a carefully curated program of care and exercise delivers the best results: This is of paramount importance for every horse—ours and our clients.
Owned and developed by Gardy Bloemers and Nick Duke, Stave Mill Farm embodies Gardy’s drive for excellence and reflects her uncompromising goal to become the best dressage rider she can be, while maintaining a thriving wealth management practice at Merrill Lynch. It is the culmination of years of perspective gained from being a boarder and client in Europe and the U.S., where she observed the best and the quotidian of every facility and used those learnings to put her stamp on her own farm. Now she is offering this extraordinary experience to a select group of clients and their horses.
A training partnership with George Williams is the capstone on the creation of Stave Mill Farm. Every horse boarded here benefits from training with a dressage star who gained international renown riding the black Westfalen mare, Rocher. As a leader in the dressage community and in-demand clinician, Williams raises the level of training at the farm to the highest bar. With his wife Roberta, Williams offers trailer-in training for limited, intensive sessions, or weeks of training for boarding horses.
